A new black headset was all that was needed to make her road worthy, however... I splashed out on some profile base bars and a cyclocross brake lever for to finish the minimalist look. A couple of stickers and some bar tape later and hey presto.

     One fast, fun hack.

Just got to get me some muscles now.

Wee winter project

As some of you may or may not have noticed I haven't been out much recently. Motivation has been very low, so I've taken on a little winter project to get cycling back on my mind. And on that note.....does anyone have a spare brake lever in their stores they would like to part with for a small fee. I'm after a front mtb or bmx cable type, to fit a 25.8mm bar. Doesn't need to be fancy, but the smaller the better.

Might see you in the new year!

Road bash

Graham and myself are going to the peaks on Sat, July 7th for a rece ride. We're testing the route for a charity ride we are doing the following weekend. Anyone who fancies a spin, let me know and we'll try to arrange the least amount of cars to riders etc. Last years route took in about 1600m of climbing, so it will be pretty testing, but its always a nice ride out. We'll look to be in Castleton for 9am and ride out from there.

Altura Pilot waterproof gloves

Not very waterproof!!!
The gloves are in their second season, and I'm not a big mile rider. They have never been machine washed and I've not crashed in them either. However, on friday their tea bag like construction came to the fore, and completely soaked up every snow flake for my 50 min commute. Not impressed!!

Can anyone recommend a good, waterproof winter glove that will last more than a year, but won't cost more than 40

Winter wilderness

After a considerable break I am turning the pedals again...slowly. A couple of rides to work and a spin with Shaggy at the weekend has rekindled my love of pedaling. Winter tyres are on, lights are charged and all is good, apart from the woeful fitness. Still, got plenty of time to work on that. A ride at Cannock on Saturday should blow the junk from my lungs, although I'm not over optimistic about racking up big miles. Might even get out on a Tuesday ride soon. Watch this space.
